Outer bulb tunics breaking into fibres; leaves 2-5 mm broad; beak of spathe 4-6 cm; umbel 2-4.5 cm diam., usually hemispherical, lax subsp. macrochaetum 1. Outer bulb tunics not breaking into fibres; leaves 7-20 mm broad; beak of spathe 7-16 cm; umbel 6-8 cm diam., dense subsp. tuncelianum subsp. tuncelianum Kollmann in Notes R.B.G. Only in the holotype are the outer bulb tunics present; on the basis of this specimen, they do not appear to split into fibres as in subsp. macrochaetum. In bulb diameter, stem height and in shape and size of leaves and spathe, subsp. tuncelianum also resembles A. ampelopmsum s.L but it is quite different in perianth characters. |
