Ae. fimbriatum Boiss. in Ann. Sci. Nat. 17: 193 (1842). Syn: Ae. schizopterum Boiss. & Hausskn. in Boiss., Fl. Or. Suppl. 60 (1888). Figure 10, p. 251. Perennial, c. 30 cm, woody at base, flowering stems simple, glabrous, glaucous. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, thickish, indistinctly nerved, sessile or subpetiolate, margin entire, cartilaginous-papillose. Petals pink, 7x2 mm. Filaments neither connate nor toothed; anthers apiculate. Ovary 2-locular, each loculus 2-ovuled. Fruiting pedicels recurved, 6-11 mm. Siliculae broadly ovate or suborbicular, cordate or attenuate at base, 9-12 x6-10 mm; septum 8x3 mm; wings often purplish, deeply fimbriate, 2-3 mm; sinus 1-2-3 mm; style 3-4 mm. Seeds 2, finely granulate, slightly mucilaginous. Fl. 1-7. Rocky slopes, 2300-2700 m. Type: [Iran] in prov. Azerbaidjan Persiae, Aucher 4128 (holo. G! iso. K!). Kurdistan. B9 Van: Şuşanis Da., 2400 m, Hub.-Mor. 9247! C9 Hakkari: Cilo Da., 2400-2700 m, D. 24269! Iraq, W., C. Iran. Ir.-Tur. element. Ae. fimbriatum, Ae. stylosum DC. and Ae. speciosum are very closely allied species, distinguished on minutiae. Ae. schiz-opterum Boiss. & Hausskn., described from near Avroman in Iranian Kurdistan, is in no way different from Ae. fimbriatum. Ae. fimbriatum is most readily dis-tinguished from its nearest allies, Ae. stylosum and Ae. speciosum, by its stronger, sturdier habit, larger floral parts and larger, more coarsely dentate fruits. |
