A. aleppica DC, Prodr. 7:296 (1838). Height 5-60 cm. Stems terete, longitudinally striped, adpressed-canescent, glabrescent. Leaves ± densely adpressed- or subadpressed-pilose, linear-filiform, median cauline (0.5-)l-4(-5) x 0.08-0.15 cm, pinnatisect, segments densely, at last ± loosely, imbricate, 0.5 mm, 3-lobed, lobes broadly ovate to orbicular, denticulate. Capitula (4-)6-120,. corymbs 1-4.5 cm broad, peduncles absent or up to 4 mm. Involucre oblong-cylindrical, ± angular, 3.5-5.5 x 1.5-2.5 mm. Phyllaries triangular-ovate, ovate-oblong to. oblong, obtuse, carinate, very narrowly scarious-margined, adpressed-canescent to glabrescent. Ligules 2-4, ivory white, pale or golden yellow, 1-2 mm; disc flowers 6-15(-20). Fl. 5-7. Steppe, marly slopes, fallow fields, vineyards, 300-1600 m. 1.
