A. strictifolius Boiss., Diagn. ser. 1(9):78 (1849) non Willd. (1794). Ic: Fl. Armenii 4: t. 38 (1962).   Dwarf cushion-forming shrub, 10-20 cm. Leaf rachis spiny, 3·5-6 cm, in-curved. Leaflets 14-25 mm, narrowly elliptic, spine-tipped, grey simple-tomen-tellous, 3-4-paired. Stipules 10-12 mm, lanceolate, glabrous though ciliate. Flowers sessile, 3-7 per leaf axil. Inflorescence ovoid to cylindrical, 3-4 cm diam., 50-100-flowered. Bracts 10-12 mm, oblong-navicular to broadly lanceolate, densely white-pilose above. Bracteoles absent, or 6-9 mm, linear, glabrous below, villous above. Calyx 10-14 mm, densely white-pilose, lobes divided to the base though apparently forming a tube c. 4 mm long. Corolla pale pink; standard 16-22 mm. Fl. 6-8. Mountain slopes, 850-1900 m. 1. Inflorescence c. 2·5 cm diam., 40-50-flowered; bracteoles usually present var. kutepovii 1. Inflorescence 3-5 cm diam., 60-100-flowered; bracteoles absent var. strictifolius var. strictifolius.   Type: [N. Iran] in valle Talagon montis Elburs prope Gattude, Kotschy 521 (iso. E! K! W!).   E.
