A. visnaga (L.) Lam., Fl. Fr. 3:462 (1778). Syn: Daucus visnaga L., Sp. PI. 242 (1753). Figure 6, p. 275. Erect stout annual or biennial. Stem 15-100 cm. Leaves 2-pinnate, triangular-ovate in outline, 7-18x5-12 cm, glabrous, green, ultimate segments 1-2-pin-natisect; lobes linear or linear-filiform, 5-25 x 0-5-1 mm, apiculate. Umbels long-pedunculate, rays c. 30-150, spreading, 1-9 cm, slender in flower, becoming erect and thickened in fruit; bracts numerous, 1-2-pinnatisect with filiform-subulate lobes, usually equalling rays; umbellule many-flowered, fruiting pedicels thickened ; bracteoles simple, subulate.
