A. armenum Boiss. & Kotschy in Boiss., FL Or. 5:254(1882). Figure 5. Map 19. Bulb ovoid, 0.8-1 cm diam.; outer tunics greyish or black, membranous. Stem slender, (6-)8-21 cm, flexuous. Leaves l-3(-4),semiterete, filiform, 1 mm broad, striate, almost as long as stem or longer. Valves of spathe 0.8-2(-2.5) cm, lanceolate, mostly purplish, shorter than or at most as long as umbel. Umbel subglobose, 1.2-3(-4) cm diam., few-flowered, lax. Pedicels 0.7-1 cm, subequal, filiform, purple. Perianth globose-campanulate; segments purple, mauve, mauvish-pink, lilac-pink or deep lilac, shortly elliptic, 3-4 mm, obtuse. Filaments subulate, slightly exserted. Anthers usually purple. Capsule globose-depressed, 3 mm. Fl. (5-)6-8. Alpine habitats, nr melting snow, open meadows, dry non-lime scree slopes and rocks, ledges, sunny limestone rocks, Quercus scrub, 900-2440 m.
