Sparingly or evenly pubescent-pilose to subglabrous perennial. Stems several, to 70 cm, often simple, arising from a woody stock, prominently scaly at base. Cauline leaves grey-green, subsessile, oblong, lanceolate or some-times broadly ovate, 2.5-7 x 1-3 cm, acute or obtuse, entire, often with distinct lateral nerves. Ray-leaves ovate-lanceolate, broadly ovate or ovate-rhombic. Raylet-leaves ovate-deltoid to suborbicular, 0.8-2.7 x 0.8-3 cm, truncate to shallowly cordate, yellowish at first. Rays (4-)5, once, rarely twice, dichotomous; axillary rays usually absent, rarely to 3. Fruit trilobate, 5-7 mm diam., covered with conic-cylindrical warts, glabrous. Seeds broadly ovoid, 4 mm, smooth, grey. Fl, 6-7. Dry rocky igneous and limestone slopes, screes, 1700-3080 m.
