Ascending or decumbent; greyish pubescent annual. Stems usually much branched and radiating from base, 5-20 cm. Leaves narrowly oblanceolate in outline, 1.5-3 cm, ± l-pinnatisect, segments oblong, 2-5 x 0.75-1.5 mm, simpleor margins sharply serrate. Capitula radiate; peduncles becoming thickened. Involucre 0.5-0.75 cm broad; outer phyllaries ovate-acuminate, inner oblong, narrowly scarious at apex. Receptacle conical; paleae ovate-oblong, shortly acuminate. Ray flowers 10-15, sterile; ligules 0.5-0.75 cm. Disc corollas c. 2.5 mm, not becoming inflated at base. Achenes cuneate, compressed, c. 1.5 mm, dark brown, almost smooth, unribbed; apex truncate, ecoronate. Fl. 5-6. Lime-stone slopes and steppe, 400-1800 m.

Endemic. A very distinct species which appears to be without close relatives. It agrees with A. pestalozzae in its small size and conical receptacle, but is unlike that species in the dissection of its leaves (which rather approaches A. tinctoria) and in its unribbed, ecoronate achenes.
